Turn banking data into governed measures, management dashboards and reporting that business teams can explain and use.

Banking BI is Para's banking-focused analytics proposition. It combines data preparation, dimensional and semantic modelling, KPI definition and management reporting around the questions the bank needs to answer.

The proposition is grounded in Para's banking analytics proof-of-concept experience, covering core data ingestion, banking dimensions and measures, financial reporting, customer and relationship-manager analysis, branch views and executive dashboards.

The value is not the dashboard alone. It is the structure underneath the dashboard: agreed definitions, source dependencies, ownership, refresh, semantic meaning and the relationship between operational data and management decisions.

A banking dashboard is only as trustworthy as the definitions, source lineage and ownership behind the measures it displays.

Why this matters

Banks have large volumes of operational data, but management reporting often depends on extracts, local calculations and differently interpreted measures.

When the same concepts customer, account, relationship, branch, product or financial measure are defined differently across teams, dashboards can reproduce disagreement instead of resolving it.

Para approaches the problem from the business question backwards. Priority measures are defined, source dependencies are understood, dimensions are structured and only then are dashboards designed.

This creates a more controlled basis for management reporting while allowing the institution to modernize analytics without assuming that every source platform must first be replaced.

  • Core-data ingestion and preparation for the agreed reporting scope.
  • Dimensional modelling around customers, relationships, branches, accounts or other approved subject areas.
  • Financial and operational KPI definitions.
  • Semantic models that separate business meaning from individual report logic.
  • Management dashboards and drill-down views.
  • Ownership, refresh and reporting-governance requirements.

What the work looks like

Start with the banking decisions

Para identifies what executives, finance, relationship teams or operational managers need to monitor and which questions current reporting does not answer reliably.

This produces a focused measure and subject-area backlog instead of beginning with every table available in the source environment.

Trace each measure back to source

Priority KPIs are linked to source data, business definitions and ownership. Gaps in availability, quality or interpretation become visible before they are embedded into reports.

Where the same data element is used across different business views, the semantic model is designed to provide a consistent interpretation.

Build the semantic and reporting layer

Measures, dimensions and relationships are modelled so dashboards can share common logic. This reduces duplicated calculations and makes the output easier to explain.

Management views are then designed around the agreed audience, decision cadence and drill path.

Govern the reporting service

Refresh, security, data-quality handling, ownership, change and release need to be defined if Banking BI is expected to remain trusted after launch.

Para can support this operating layer through managed application services where required.

Para point of view

Business definitions before visual design

A polished dashboard cannot solve a disagreement about what a banking measure means.

Semantic models reduce reporting drift

Reusable business definitions provide a stronger basis than embedding calculations separately inside each report.

Legacy integration is normal

Modern analytics can coexist with established banking systems; the key is deliberate extraction, modelling and ownership.

Data quality needs an owner

The reporting layer should make data issues visible and route them to the teams that can resolve them.

BI is an operating capability

Refresh, access, release and measure changes should be managed as part of the service rather than treated as one-time project tasks.
